new poem

To My Stalker
(on our third anniversary)

My not at all beloved, I have nothing
to say to you. I have no names to call you,
no message to relay, no information
about myself, and nothing to enthrall you

with hopes. I swear, I do not want to see you
or hear from you. I wish you every freedom,
except the rights to me. I cannot stop you
writing to me—I don’t have to read ‘em.

I don’t think there’s an argument to reach you,
so I won’t waste this ink on self-defense.
But please believe me, if I could convince you
to forget me, I’d say: Go! now, present tense.

Truly, I have no regrets we’ve said goodbye.
I am a little sorry I said “hi.”
